Holiday activity ideas: Enjoy a Lazy Sunflower Afternoon in the South Lakes
If you are on holiday in the Lake District, we have a Enjoy a lazy sunflower afternoon at the Lakeland Maze Farm Park, near Kendal in the South Lakes, where you can partake in a pick-your-own-sunflower activity, choosing from a field boasting around 50,000 plants, set against the backdrop of the Lakeland fells and worthy of many camera clicks and sunflower selfies!
Sunflower picking is for a small per-flower charge for those visiting the attraction, where they can also explore another sunflower, within a 6.5-acre maize maze themed around this symbol of joy and positivity. Getting lost is half the fun and finding the way out can take hours, providing great value for money.
Those not wanting as big a challenge can tackle a 1.5-acre bee and honeycomb-themed mini-maze, ensuring lots of time to head to meet a large array of animals, from ferrets, pigs and small rodents, to horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas and even the most unusual resident – a huarizo born on the farm to an alpaca dad and llama mum.
Budding young firefighters can climb aboard a real fire engine, whilst those wanting to practise soccer skills can make a beeline for a new ball games area. There’s a new low-level balance trail of rope and plank challenges, plus giant bouncing pillows that take trampolining to a new level.
Add to this karts, slide, bouncy castle, indoor tube maze, vintage tractors, pedal toys and indoor soft play area and there is plenty to entertain. All has been put together with pandemic health concerns in mind, with new outdoor-and-collect food stations outside, but with queuing areas under cover, and many other safe procedures in place.
Tickets, need to be booked online, so head to www.lakelandmaze.co.uk to do that and put some sunshine into your life.
Sunflower picking attracts a small additional cost – 50p per flower picked – to the standard entrance prices of £9.45 for adults, £8.45 for children aged 2-15 years and £6.95 for seniors. Family tickets cost £34, for two adults and two children or for one adult with three children. Gates open at 10am, each day to September 5, and close at 6pm.
