Revealed: Italy In The Top 3 Adventure Holiday Destinations In Europe

The pandemic created a huge rise in physical activity because of the numerous lockdowns, but it wasn’t just cycling and running that saw a significant uptake.  

Action and adventure sports are becoming increasingly popular due to the excitement and adrenaline that people often get from doing them - and countries all across Europe have been making the most of this increased demand.

If you are looking to explore your wild side while holidaying in Europe, where should you look?

As part of their Adventure Index campaign, the broadband team at Uswitch have analysed over 2000 adventure activities that can be done across 30 European countries, to determine the best locations for adventure sports when you find yourself on the continent. 

 Italy took third place on the index with 261 bookable activities available. 

 Owing largely to its vast array of mountain ranges in the north, plus miles of coastline that ranges from the beautiful and pristine, to the wild and rugged, the country is the place to go if you are looking to try out canyoning, with nearly a third (28%) of all bookable adventure activities in the country involving the sport.

 France took the top spot on the list with 687 bookable locations for adventure sports. Owing largely to its vast, Alpine mountain ranges and over 2,000 miles of coastline, France is the country with the most opportunities for an adventure in Europe. With 687 bookable locations across all 13 activities, France was head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.

The UK came in a respectable eighth place with 65 bookable adventure sports.
