South Africa off UK Travel Red List - Mantis Collection opens to UK wanderlust travellers

It’s official, South Africa has now come off the UK red list! The Mantis Collection of experiences and luxury properties are able to welcome back UK travellers.

Linking so many unique African experiences, conservation-focused hotel group Mantis has four properties in South Africa:

  • Mantis Founders Lodge: A luxury eco-lodge with six suites set on a private concession alongside the world-renowned Shamwari Private Game Reserve, near Gqeberha (former Port Elizabeth).
  • Mantis No5 Boutique Art Hotel: A restored Art Deco building in the affluent Summerstrand suburb, with the ocean less than 150 metres away. Includes seven suites, a whiskey and cigar lounge, private cinema, spa and pool.
  • Oceana Beach & Wildlife Reserve: One of the few places in Africa where you can combine beach, bush and wildlife in one experience. The boutique hotel is set in a wildlife reserve, overlooking the Indian Ocean.
  • Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis:  On the Val de Vie Estate, internationally recognised for its polo facilities and Jack Nicklaus signature golf course. The estate is a short drive from Cape Town and nestled between many of South Africa's most renowned wine estates and restaurants.

Only a few weeks ago Mantis announced its new Rhino Conservation Experience ideal for the conscious traveller. Guests can learn about conservation from expert guest speakers and get up close (hands-on) to a rhino as part of a veterinary health check, meet and learn from local members of the community and experience the thrill of going on game drives on the Shamwari Game Reserve.

Coming soon to the collection is Mantis Mansa Marina  a boutique hotel on one of the Cape Verde islands (opening March 2022) and  Mantis Kivu Queen uBauranga a luxury houseboat  in Lake Kivu in Rwanda (set to open in 2022). While different in the experiences they offer, all properties are linked through Mantis’ commitment to sustainable tourism, culture, conservation and community inclusion.

Key to this group is its commitment to conservation and it has its own foundation: CCFA, formed to address social imbalances and to find a workable solution to the growing conservation crisis through grant-giving, education and working in partnership with local communities to implement systems to protect the wildlife and wilderness areas. Through Mantis (and CCFA) guests can find themselves at the centre of Impact Experiences; ongoing immersive conservation experiences designed to contribute to community upliftment projects and the protection of rare species.
