We all deserve a bit of relaxation to really settle into the festive vibes of winter, but how do we take a winter holiday without breaking the bank?
DiscoverCars has discovered the best winter holiday destinations that won’t stretch your travel budget, after analysing the different parts of a winter break that can cost you a pretty penny.
Looking at the average cost of hotels, flights, car rentals and tourist attractions, as well as what there is to do and see - the best travel options depending on your budget have been revealed.
Krakow took the top spot - this city has the cheapest average overall weekly cost at £335.33.
Car rentals are the cheapest in Krakow at £141.56 and there are 664 affordable restaurants to tuck into - whilst the city’s most known attraction of the Rynek Glowny, is completely free.
Prague is in second place - DiscoverCars’ research ranked the city as the second best, budget winter getaway destination.
Its 1,207 affordable restaurants are available, and the most known attraction of Prague Castle costs an average of just £8.40.
The car rentals are more expensive though, at £202.25 - but other costs are cheaper than average at £120.25 for the plane, and an average week costing £388.80.
Paris was the third best budget winter getaway - The average weekly cost of £746.67 is one of the highest, however other elements of the city push it to the top.
A car rental will cost you an average of £184.90 and the city is home to 2,934 ‘affordable’ restaurants, with flights costing an average of £118.88. The most well known attraction, the Eiffel Tower, costs an average of £22.22, with 7,829 other attractions on offer too.
If you’ve got a bigger budget, DiscoverCars’ research suggests that Vienna is a good option for a winter getaway.
The city ranked at the ‘bottom’ as the average weekly cost of a stay in Copenhagen is £806.67, and flights cost an average of £188.50. However, the city has 476 affordable restaurants to choose from.
The city’s most known attraction of the Tivoli Gardens is on the cheaper side compared to other locations at £15.45. Car rental choices are also cheaper here than other destinations, averaging at £152.63.
