British Pop Sensation Pixie Lott Headlines Travel Hotspot Amilla Maldives' New Year Celebrations
Football camps hosted by legend Arjen Robben and exclusive performances by Eurovision-winning pop star Dima Bilan complete another star-studded festive holiday programme
Renowned for its exceptional festive holiday season celebrations and New Year’s Eve performances, Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences will count down to 2022 with an exclusive performance by British singer-songwriter Pixie Lott. Pixie, who burst onto the scene in 2009 with a UK number one, 'Mama Do’, and went on to sell 1.5 million copies of her debut album, will head this year’s stellar line-up and programme of activities at Amilla.
BRIT Awards twice-nominated, Pixie Lott rose to fame with debut single 'Mama Do' which topped the UK Singles Chart in 2009. Her debut album 'Turn It Up' spawned six consecutive top 20 singles on the UK Singles Chart, including another number one hit. Pixie has also appeared as a guest judge on British singing reality show, ‘The X Factor’ and as a coach on ‘The Voice Kids UK’ alongside will.i.am and Danny Jones, and reached the quarter finals of BBC1’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2014.
Joining the spectacular line-up will be multi-talented diva, Carmen, whose previous stages include the Tower of London, The Cutty Sark and The Royal Opera House; as well as the Maldives’ very own Limestone Band and DJ Tappu on the main stage. Amilla guests are also invited to join Area 51, a troupe of highly-skilled entertainers, for a series of workshops and performances on the island. Following hot on the heels of Pixie Lott’s NYE appearance, Russia’s 2008 Eurovision Song Contest-winning singer-songwriter Dima Bilan will sprinkle even more stardust on the festive celebrations with exclusive performances on 6 and 13 January.
Also helping to kick off the festive season will be former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich winger, Arjen Robben. From 26 to 30 December, Robben will be sharing his Champions League-winning techniques and skills with a special football camp and coaching sessions exclusively for Amilla guests.
Other festive delights on island include Christmas ornament making and festive cookie decorating classes, treasure and snowman hunts, starry night cinemas and a Jingle Rock disco, and a Dickens-themed ‘Past, Present and Future of Sustainable Fashion’ show.
