Unleash your Kreativity at Kandima Maldives - Art Festival showcasing local talent and female entrepreneurs at Kandima’s dedicated Art Studio-
The game-changing resort, Kandima Maldives is hosting the KULA Art Festival (KULA meaning ‘colours’ in Dhivehi) this January and is set to be the country’s most exciting pop-up event for local talent. Over 20 artists specialising in various art mediums including digital, coffee, acrylic, henna, spray paint and local crafts will showcase their skills during the event.
KULA Art Festival
Kadima’s in-house resident Maldivian artist, Zima will present an artistic journey through a mix of acrylic and aesthetic abstract art covering nature and the underwater world. ‘Chasing the Sun’ is Zima’s first solo exhibition. The exhibition highlights and tells stories through bold palette knife strokes and mixed mediums emphasizing her experience as a self-taught artist. The pop-up will feature works of arts and crafts from women entrepreneurs. “The inspiration comes from the KULA Art Initiative of Kandima,” says Zima. “It is a platform that continues being developed to promote talent, arts and creativity both among the visitors and locals.”
Kandima Maldives invites guests to join resident artists in unleashing their kreativity at the art studio. The festival will include beach games, group activities, food stalls, live music, live art sessions from visiting local artists, as well as pop-up stores of local vendors and henna art sessions will be available. It will end with a pop of colour with the signature KULA run, where splashes of colour powder are thrown in the air.
The Aroma Art Studio
The Aroma Art Studio at Kandima Maldives is the epicentre of Kandima’s art scene and hosts regular exhibitions and exciting art performances by local artists throughout the year. Set on the edge of a natural lake, it is one of the most peaceful locations on the island, giving both guests and artists an inspirational “space of Zen” so that they can create their masterpiece!
The KULA Art Initiative
To support the resort’s Art Initiative with local artists, Kandima donates $1 from each room night generated at the property. This allows Kandima’s Art Initiative to grow while supporting the pledged activities such as local schools and artists with equipment, paid internships, scholarship programs and support for securing further education.
After spending time at the studio, make sure to relax and rejuvenate at the esKape Spa, enjoy a meal at the beach or simply head over to the pool and tune in to some live music. There are several places in Kandima to unwind after a day full of kreativity. Kandima Maldives is more than just a holiday where guests are spoilt with choice. It's a way of life.
