More people than ever are looking to book a cruise, with research showing a 10% increase in the number of holidaymakers in the market for a getaway at sea, compared to last year.
The survey, carried out by cruise specialist cruise.co.uk and completed by almost 8,000 respondents, asked how likely they were to book a sailing during the next 12 months.
The results revealed that over half (51%) of the respondents were certain or very likely to book a cruise starting in a UK port, a 9% uplift compared to 2022. Similarly, 41% of people asked said they were certain or very likely to book a fly-cruise departing from overseas, an 11% uplift year-on-year.
'Destination' was listed by respondents as the most prominent important factor when booking a cruise. 'Price' came in second, and was 11% up on 2022, representing the biggest year-on-year increase of all factors listed.
Tony Andrews, deputy managing director of cruise.co.uk, said: "We're delighted to see demand for cruise continue to increase, not least because we're confident a holiday at sea can't be beaten on value for money. And the best part is, there really is a cruise to suit everyone – from thrill-seeking families, to adventurous solo travellers, to couples looking for a relaxing getaway – they'll all find an escape they love.
"The cruise industry has faced a challenging few years, so we're very encouraged by these figures. It's great to see demand higher than ever."
