ARUBA – DESTINATION TO WATCH FOR 2024
One of ABTA’s top destinations to watch for 2024, Aruba has a vibrant and eclectic mix of sights and sounds, an exciting array of activities to suit every type of traveller and with British Airways’ flight launching in 2023, it’s never been easier to access the island. Aruba, falls significantly south of the Hurricane belt, offering sunny, dry weather throughout the year - out of roughly 700 islands in the Caribbean, Aruba consistently ranks as having the least amount of rainfall, making family summer holiday planning easy and stress free.
The island is perfectly set up for families seeking a mix of relaxing beach holiday and soft adventure. The island’s famous Baby Beach, is a true Caribbean beach paradise - the sandy cove and calm lagoon is ideal for families with little kids, due to its shallow waters, making it a prime beach destination for swimmers who do not want to venture out of their depth. Keen snorkellers can explore the vibrant marine life where the bay opens out into the sea. Foodie families can taste their way around the island sampling a melting pot of cuisines including Dutch, Spanish and North American flavours, whilst culture vultures can explore the vibrant town of Oranjestad.
For the adventurous types, Arikok National Park is home to a vast array of cultural heritage sites, including spectacular caves, original Indian rock drawings, unusual land formations made from lava, quartz diorite and limestone, guided nature to secluded bays such as Moro, Boca Prins and Dos Playa. The monthly ‘cinema in the park’, watching a movie in open air under the stars, is worth a visit and a memorable experience for the entire family.
Watch out for the island's new hotel openings this year: St. Regis Aruba Palm Beach Resort and Iberostar Grand Aruba
