Up Your Excitement in Rhodes Island with These Top Holiday Activities
A dream come true is the best way to describe my holidays to Rhodes Island. This is actually one of the best experiences I ever had in my whole life. During my planning for the trip, I listed down all the activities that I wanted to try and I was lucky enough to be able to do most of them. To serve as your guide, let me discuss with you some of the top things to do in Rhodes Island that left a lasting impression on me:
- Go Sunset Gazing in Monolithos Castle
Nestled on the westernmost spot of Rhodes Island, the Monolithos Castle is the most recommended place to be for all sunset watchers. This is the vantage point where you can see the beautiful sun setting on the Aegean Sea. Just expect that the climb to the castle won’t be that easy but the effort will be truly rewarding the moment you finally see the panoramic views from the top.
- Scuba Diving
If you don’t really love scuba diving just like me, be ready because your thoughts may change once you visit Rhodes Island. I can say that because this is exactly what happened to be. I fell in love with scuba diving the moment I tried it during my visit in Rhodes Island. I was glad because even if I was a beginner, there were plenty of spots for novices like me. Of course, more seasoned divers can also get their fill of the best diving experience in the island.
- Rock Climbing
I didn’t expect that rock climbing in Rhodes Island would be such a thrilling experience. More than the feeling of being alive while holding tight to the rope for dear life, the stunning natural beauty that surrounded me made the climb more than worth it.
- Stand Up Boarding
Not many people including myself may be familiar with stand up boarding. In fact, it was my first time to try it during my Rhodes Island trip. I headed out to the east coast because I was told that this is the place perfect for this activity. I never knew that I can still explore Rhodes in a different way as I paddle along the waters.
- Swimming
Being near all those waters enticed me to go for a swim and much to my surprise, I didn’t expect that even this simple activity will be a whole new experience in Rhodes Island. Being surrounded by the crystal clear waters was such a comfort that I ended up swimming for hours.
- Wind Surfing in Prasonisi
I also didn’t miss the opportunity to wind surf in Prasonisi, the southernmost tip of the island whose windy climate made it the top spot for this water sports. The area is magnificent and interesting as well as the seas of Mediteranean and Aegean meet there.
- Boat Trips
The surrounding waters of the island made it a great spot for embarking on boat trips. Whether you want a short trip or something longer, you can get all of these at the island. You can try both the cosmopolitan Symi or the relaxing tiny island of Halki. There are lots of organized daily boat trips that you can find on the harbor. Both day trips were such an one of a kind experience that I would definitely do all over again.
Rhodes island is one of the places someone needs to visit once in their life. The destination offers lots of places of natural beauty, unique culture, long history, intense nightlife as well as stunning beaches. In result, lots of activities to do for any kind of different interests.
